Bloom:
Rich red-crimson with blackish shadings when fresh, darkening with purple overlay as it ages.. Moderate, cinnamon, damask, sweet-pea, opinions vary fragrance. 8 to 14 petals. Average diameter 4". Medium to large, semi-double (9-16 petals), in small clusters, cupped-to-flat bloom form. Prolific, once-blooming spring or summer. Medium, pointed, rounded buds.
Habit:
Medium, lax. Large, matte, medium green, leathery foliage. 3 to 7 leaflets.
Height: 3' to 6' (90 to 185cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4a and warmer. Can be used for shrub. Very hardy. vigorous. flowers drop off cleanly. heat tolerant. produces decorative hips. shade tolerant. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant, very blackspot resistant., very mildew resistant, very rust resistant. Needs little care; relatively disease-free and quite hardy.
Breeder's notes:
This seedling was planted in an early test area in about 2000 and completely ignored for years. It rarely even got watered, and yet it thrives. I used it a few times in breeding in 2005 and 2006 but haven't had anything noteworthy from it. I will keep trying.
