While ‘Danse du Feu’ and…. have on all occasions exceeded 150 flowering days in a season….. ‘Danse du Feu’ and ‘Gruss an Teplitz’ are mongrels which cannot be placed in any botanical class; they both produce smallish red flowers in clusters of two or three; the latter’s are crimson and the former’s almost scarlet.

p94 ‘Danse du Feu’. Scarlet. 10ft climber. Vigorous; climber, with strong stems, but easy to train; healthy; foliage fairly abundant, glossy, middle to deep green; flowers scarlet to crimson, fading crimson purple with age; semi-double, with about 23 petals, loose centre, soon opening from good bud form to diameter 3ins; profuse summer flush, with good amount of later flower to autumn; flowers in clusters of about 7 both on side shoots and young main shoots; weather resistance fair; scent faint. Raised by Charles Mallerin, Isere, France. Introduced 1954. Parentage: ‘Paul’s Scarlet Climber x R. multiflora seedling. Name in USA is ‘Spectacular’.

Full, orange-scarlet blooms with a marked scent. Flowers several times throughout the summer and tolerates a certain amount of rain. Growth moderate with shoots up to 6-9 ft, and beautiful foliage.
