When grown right, it is probably one of the most gorgeous roses to ever exist.

However, it has horrible vigor, I'm told it is extremely hard to propagate, and it can get minor black spot, like most hand-painted roses.

I am giving it a chance this year, by crossing it onto a blackspot and fade resistant hybrid, with good vigor.

Almost all other hand-painted roses cannot compare to this rose, when it is grown right. Most of them look like bi-colors. When grown right, you have to touch the petals to assure yourself that the rose is real. I have an old photo of it here, so you can see what I mean.

No, I didn't. I moved for a job and intended to buy it again, but then the economy hit crap crick and a lot of rare roses disappeared when many nurseries did.

It was strange rose. Plant smaller than Regensberg, but blooms larger than Regensberg. Heirlooms had a specimen that was basically 2 twigs. Mine was in better shape, but only because of care. It wasn't an easy rose.

I forgot to mention I had better success with handpaints by going a roundabout way. Most handpaints are absolutely awful in one way or another. I bred from the minis up to flori/shrub level with my own seedlings. Shadow Ninja in particular can throw very strong handpaints when crossed correctly.
