Pat Toolan, Rose Rustling in the Barossa Valley
p6.  We are keen to discover the correct name of "Stockport Yellow". Some experts have suggested "Stockport Yellow" may be 'Golden Emblem' [McGredy, 1916]

p8.  “Stockport Yellow Tea/HT” is a rounded, healthy bush which flowers nearly continuously. The golden yellow, double blooms fade to pale yellow and cream. The mother plant is one of five which were planted at some date before 1940 in the town of Stockport north of Adelaide. We have not come up with an identification yet for this lovely yellow shrub rose but it might be ‘Golden Emblem’ [McGredy, 1916] a Pernetiana rose that was offered by a few South Australian nurseries at about the time that it is believed to have been planted. Pernetianas are notoriously hard to strike on their own roots as this rose has proven to be.

Pat Toolan: There is a rose which one of our Barossa and Beyond members, Hugh Tily, pointed out to us is "Stockport Yellow". Hugh remembers walking past the rose on his way to school in the 1950s. It is still known by its study name. It may be a Tea but close to a Hybrid Tea.
