Sunset. Old. Tea. Deep yellow. Repeat-flowering. This fragrant Tea rose does not always open well; if the weather is wet, the blooms will simply ball and rot. The flowers are much deeper in color than its parent; they are orange-yellow, filled with 50-60 petals, cupped and very large. When they do open well, they are superb. It is very tall and spreading in warm climates, but much less robust in cooler areas and has plentiful, dark green foliage that is prone to mildew. Like its parent, ‘Sunset’ can be magnificent if weather conditions are right. Both roses were grown for many years under glass for the florist trade early this century. It used to be common for brides to carry bouquets of yellow Tea Roses. Zones 5-10. Henderson, USA, 1883. Sport of ‘Perle des Jardins’

Edward E. Pescott “Rose Hedges”: An old fashioned hedge much in vogue among flower growers years ago was the fine citron-yellow coloured rose, Sunset, with its beautiful bronzy tips, now superseded.
Book  (1928)  Page(s) 10.

I have seen a fine hedge of that good old rose, Sunset. The beauty of a 'Sunset' hedge in early spring or early autumn is unrivalled; for the bronzy tints of the young foliage persist for such a considerable time that the whole foliage partakes of the bronzy redness.
