Origin:

Bred by J. B. Schmitt (Alsace) (France, before 1892).
Introduced in Germany by Peter Lambert in 1895 as 'Thalia'.
Introduced in Australia by Arthur Yates & Co. Ltd. in 1899 as 'White Rambler'.

Class:

Hybrid Multiflora, Rambler.

Bloom:

White. Moderate fragrance. Average diameter 0.75". Small, semi-double to double, in large clusters, flat bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.

Habit:

Climbing, few or no prickles/thorns. Glossy, light green foliage.

Height: 12' (365cm). Width: 8' (245cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 4b through 9b. Hardy. very vigorous.

Patents:

Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Diploid

Parentage:

R. polyantha Hort. × Pâquerette (polyantha, Guillot, 1872)

Notes:

This is one of the three ramblers Lambert bought from Schmitt and commercialized under his own name.
Seed parent Rosa polyantha sarmenteux was a R. multiflora-type with double blooms, possibly also the parent of Paquerette.
