This rose doesn't get out of bounds at all, blooms so much, and it even sets tiny bright red hips that my wildlife loves. The hips are small, so you'd only notice them if close, but it would be a great rose to site close-up because of its cheery color, etc. It's extremely healthy with no help, here. I have mine in shade (viewed far away), because I needed color there. It's perfect for that, too! It's magenta-red for me, a nice, bright color. "Happy' is a truer red here, but this rose is much healthier.

Any idea as to how it does in less or well less than full sun?

I have a friend who is growing these roses on a northern exposure in Zone 6 (Long Island NY) and the roses don't get much sun overall (although they do get some strong later-day sun). In spite of being in shade a lot of the day, they do bloom consistently in several flushes throughout the season and are good performers.

I wanted a low growing drought tolerant disease-free rose for my sidewalk border, and this one has been wonderful. It blooms non-stop, even through the heat of summer, and never needs spraying. It stays low. The blossoms come in large clusters, and there is good color impact. A very good low-maintenance landscape rose. I would recommend to beginners or those who need a splash of low-maintenance color.
