According to Edward Gill's own nursery catalogue of of 1889, he was already offering this rose, thus your date in incorrect. (Cf. the special collections of Gill's papers at the Bancroft Library.)

You might also add under Description that the rose is described as a "dwarf General Jacqueminot."
