We purchased one this year and it grows and flowers well. It copped a bit of mildew in September- October but It might be better next year.

This rose was named after my grandmother who came from a small town in South Australia called Caltowie.

It's always interesting to know details like this.
Please be aware there is a section on the rose's Description tab called "Breeder's Notes:" which is reserved for you (the breeder) to add comments about your rose.

Warren, Seeing what you have bred, it is on the cards that your grandmother grew roses. Are there any old roses remaining in her garden? Regards, Patricia

Hi Patricia I never knew her, she passed away when my father was 16yrs old, I feel like I lost alot because she was supposed to have been a really lovely lady. This rose is my favourite and I dedicate it to her with all my heart.
cheers Warren

What a gorgeous grandson you would have been for her. She would have been delighted that you used 'Mme. Caroline Testout' as the pollen parent. I am sure we will all remember the photo of this lady when we read about and see the rose 'Hilda Sophia Lehmann' in the future.

I took some pics of a garden around the former bank building in Caltowie last November. Lots of heritage roses, but recently-planted. Not bad for a low-rainfall area! Looks like similar stone to your photo.

The rose bushes look pretty healthy, Its probably a climate similar to here, we have around 12" rainfall per annum. There are a lot of stone buildings in Caltowie , if my memory serves me right, alot of the people now go to Jamestown for their shopping , I think the town is getting smaller with less shops open.
