Karl Renner (December 14, 1870 Untertannowitz (Dolni Dunajovice)/Moravia - December 31, 1950 Vienna), Austrian politician and first president of the Austrian republic after WW II (1945-1950). The "Renner-Rose" was planted in the garden of the house in Untertannowitz where Dr. Renner grew up. When in 1999, the house was to be demolished, the shrub was excavated and moved to a new location in Vienna, across the Chancellory.
