The petal colour is mostly yellow in both R. hemisphaerica and R. foetida. However, as the petal colour of the new hybrid was reddish pink in upper half and yellow in lower part, it was considered that one of the parents should have pink petals. Considering the data in Table 2 and the observed morphological affinities, it is reasonable to assume that R. hemisphaerica and R. villosa subsp. mollis hybridised to produce the new nothospecies. In fact, the hybrids occur together with a numerous population of R. hemisphaerica, in a site where individuals of R. villosa subsp. mollis are found within 1 km distance....

Rosa × ozcelikii Korkmaz & Kandemir hybr. nov. [R. villosa L. subsp. mollis (Sm.) Hook.f. × R. hemisphaerica Herrm.] (Fig. 1) New hybrid produced after crossing of R. hemisphaerica and R. villosa. subsp. mollis. It differs from R. hemisphaerica by the colour of its petals, with upper half  reddish pink and lower half yellowish (not entirely yellow); hypanthium ovoid (not globose); leaflets elliptic to ovate, hairy on both sides, rounded, sometimes broadly cuneate (not obovate, glaucescent and cuneate at base). It also differs from R. villosa. subsp. mollis by the bicoloured petals (not mostly deep pink); hypanthia ovoid and orange in fruiting time (not globose and red); leaflets elliptic to ovate (not ovate to suborbicular); stems with long and small prickles (not only long prickles).Type:―TURKEY. East Anatolia, B7 Erzincan: Çayırlı District, between Verimli and Balıklı villages, about 15 km to Çayırlı district, field side, 1641 m, 39° 52’ 418’’ N,  39° 55’ 644’’ E, 2 June 2014, Korkmaz 4081 (holotype: ANK!, isotypes: GAZI!, NGBB!, GUL!). Dense shrub up to 3 m tall. Stems erect; young stems brown-red with both prickles and bristles, glandular hairy, grey in old stems. Prickles sparsely, curved with broad base, tapering from base, 4–7 mm, straw to whitish, deciduous in older stems; bristles erect to slightly curved, deciduous in older stems; glandular hairs on young stems usually stalked, sometimes sessile. Young shoots green with prickles, bristles and glandular hairs. Leaves  alternate, compound with 5–7 leaflets, auriculate at base; main axis 1–3.5 cm long with glandular and long hairs; leaflets elliptic to ovate, rarely obovate, increasing in size upwards, 8–30 × 3–15 mm, base rounded, sometimes broadly cuneate, margin glandular, serrate in 2/3 of upper part, entire in lower parts, abaxially pale green with sparse hairs, adaxially darker green with densely pubescent; auricles glandular especially on margins, ±  glabrous  above  except medial vein, abaxially hairy. Inflorescence with  1–3 flowers,  bracteate. Pedicels glandular, sparse  hairy to  subglabrous, 5–12 mm,  longer  than hypantium, more or less elongating in fruiting time. Hypanthium ovoid, 4–5 × 2–3 mm, constricted above, green in flowering, eglandular or glandular or subglabrous, orange and glabrescent after anthesis. Sepals 5, green, 10–14 mm in flower, clearly longer than hypanthium, lanceolate, apex acuminate, straight, sometimes slightly falcate, symmetric, sometimes asymmetric in shape,  lanate  inside,  hairy and glandular outside,  deflexed;  outer sepals with 1–2  lateral lobes, rarely entire; inner sepals entire, sometimes lobate. Petals 5, obovate, 2.1–3 × 1.5–2 mm, apex retuse; upper half parts reddish pink, lower half parts yellow. Filaments 2–4 mm, glabrous; anthers ca. 1 mm. Styles up to 1 mm, lanate; stigma capitate.
