As I understand it, this, the more common subspecies of woodsii in Arizona is slightly smaller than Fendler's woodsii. I found some populations along arroyos in riparian woods of Yavapai county, blooming (very sparsely) in mid June where they weren't too heavily grazed by mule deer. None were as tall as 3 ft. The AZ College of Agriculture and Life Sciences considers this synonymous with R. woodsii ultramontana.
