46. Rosa karjaginii Sosn. Near Threatened..
The species is already included in the Red Book of Azerbaijan (Adighesal et al., 1989) and is a very rare endemic species. Only a single location is known from the Shamakhi region, Greater Caucasus. Although the population is currently stable and the species is common in the area of its distribution, it may be subject to the effects of human activities in the wild such as habitat degradation or over-collecting of fruits. The species needs more strict habitat management. An important medicinal and ornamental species, it is under threat from over-collection for medicinal purposes.

Büsche: 50 bis 60 cm hoch; Zweige mit einheitlichen, häufig paarigen gelblichen Stacheln bedeckt, gerade oder etwas gebogen; Triebe ohne Früchte blaugrau, einjährige Triebe purpurrot.
Blätter: 5 bis 6,6 cm lang, Stiel mit kurzgekräuselten Haaren gemischt mit Drüsen; Blättchen 7, 1,5 bis 1,8 cm lang und 1 bis 1,5 cm breit, auf beiden Seiten behaart, gemischt mit Drüsen, breit elliptisch, am Rand spitz und doppelt gezähnt, Zähnchen enden mit einer Drüse.
Blüten: 3 bis 5 auf glatten, mit einzelnen Drüsen besetzten behaarten Blütenstielen; Kelchblätter auf der Rückseite behaart mit einzelnen Drüsen, am Rand drüsig-wimpernartig, fallen nach der Blüte ab.
Früchte: eiförmig, kahl, glatt.
Gebüsch auf schotterartigen steinigen Steilhängen der subalpinen Region.
Verbreitungsgebiet: UdSSR, Kaukasus: ASSR Nachitschewan, auf Steilhängen in der Umgebung von Urmys.
