What a delicate color! Where'd you find this one? I'd love to add it to my garden.

Per an email from Vintage just a few days ago, they will continue to accept custom root orders until May of 2012.

You have done the impossible...you have kept Fantan alive and actually coaxed a near perfect flower from it. I imported this from LeGrice in the early 80s and spread it around to preserve it. This is actually a worse plant than Grey Pearl, more difficult to make happy or even keep alive. Congratulations! This is a magnificient flower of this variety. Thank you!

Oh, thank you, Kim. I bought it exactly three years ago and this is the first bloom it has produced, so I'm well aware of how difficult it is to grow. I am delighted with it, though, and very grateful to you and to Vintage Gardens for giving me the opportunity to grow it.

You're welcome! Thank YOU for persisting with this rose! It's definitely better budded than own root and will benefit from disbudding, not permitting it to flower until it has developed enough growth to support the flowers. It CAN be encouraged to be almost an acceptable plant, but it takes "green witchery" to do it. You've succeeded. Congratulations!
