Beautiful foliage! It resembles our Sumacs in fall.

The autumn colour is almost certainly inherited from the pollen parent Rosa spinosissima. Scots roses are very common in the countryside in Finland (the white double-flowered form most often seen is called "white rose of Finland" in Sweden). However, the growth habit and fall colour vary a lot in different strains in different parts of the country. Helvi originates in northern Finland, in my parents garden, where a Scots rose with a particularly vivid autumn colour also grows in abundance.

Look at my photo of Thérèse Bugnet ( http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.211631 ) in Fall last year. She has a nice fall-colour too... and red canes.
