Persian Eyes

Persian Eyes (VISpereye)
A persica hybrid shrub rose bred by Martin Vissers
75cmx X 1m wide.

Not to be confused with Chris Warner’s rose with the same name (CHEWpersian).

'Persian Eyes' from Vissers added. The rose introduced in Australia seems to be Warner's cultivar.

Persian Eyes ® VISpereye (hybrid hulthemia, Vissers, 2010)
Persian Eyes CHEWpersian (hybrid hulthemia, Warner, 2011)

What is the difference? Is one single and the other semi-double?

Don’t you just love rose breeders choosing the same name for similar roses?

Wagner description:
Persian Eyes™ is a delightful mid to deep pink semi double rose, with a dark chocolate brown eye exhibiting bright yellow stamens. This rose has healthy foliage and is a good landscaping variety with spreading growth to 100cm wide and 75cm high. Fragrance: Nil Category: Modern Shrub.

HMF description of CHEWpersian:
Orange-pink, red center, ages to deep pink . Red basal flecks. None / no fragrance. Single (4-8 petals), cluster-flowered bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Will upload images to VISpereye until we have some additional images to compare.

That's what I would have thought but seems to be Australia has the VISeyeper not the Warner.

This nursery in victoria posted their new roses of the season on facebook (july 22, 2021)

www.facebook.com/RaoMultifloraNursery/posts/4589268217772268

and this photo (attached) in particular has the VISeyeper breeder code. With the logo in the top right seems it was intro'd by Landsdale Rose Gardens (again Australian)...unless both roses are in Australia (which would be a whole lot of confusing with managing photos in the right place)

Yes Plazbo, the label gave me the VISpereye code. I cannot see any of the CHEWpersian orange - pink on the images. Can't find any information to confirm Chris Warner's rose is/was on the Aust market..
VISpereye is just a semi-double unlike the single status of CHEWpersian.

From my screen:
Persian Eyes ® VISpereye (hybrid hulthemia, Vissers, 2010) semi-double. (Introduced by Landsdale (Rose Introducers of Australia mob)

Persian Eyes CHEWpersian (hybrid hulthemia, Warner, 2011) orange tones. Single. The 2011 Barcelona Trials photo has some orange tones.

Eye Shadow CHEWsumstar (shrub) Warner, 2011. Single. (Introduced by Roses and Friends)

Thank you for your help gentlemen.

Very confusing! If Persian Eyes is from Jan Spek, then it is indeed Visser's. They look so similar. The roseon the label looks more orange-pink than pink. The photo shows CHEwpersian

The reality is that photographs on plant labels, catalogues and magazines are often manipulated to the point that the colour is unreliable and is just a guide. The best means is still viewing the bloom in the garden, and Wagner’s description of a dark chocolate brown eye highlights this point.
