I am interested in the history of the Cecil Brunner Rose. It is my understanding that it was named by my Great-grandfather, Peter Brunner. I wqould appreciate any information on this.

In 1874, Claude Ducher, died, he was a well known and respected rose breeder in France. His widow, Marie Ducher, took over the business. She remarried and in 1881, she and her husband , Joseph Pernet, introduced a rose Mlle Cecile Brunner. The rose was named after the little daughter of Ulrich Brunner who was a well known rose breeder in Switzerland.
