Claude PERNET (père) started a rose nursery in Lyon, France, in 1845. No roses are known.
Jean Claude PERNET (père) (October 15, 1832 Passins, Isère - March 31, 1896 Villeurbanne)

[From Les Amis des Roses, April-December 1940, p. 27:] Février 1896. Les rosiéristes lyonnais accompagnent à sa dernière demeure Jean Pernet, connu dans les milieux horticoles sous le nom de Pernet père, âgé de 64 ans. Il était né à Lyon en 18.'I2 et dès son plus jeune âge s'intéressa à la pépinière. Il travaillait chez Normand, pépiniériste à la Côte-Saint-André, mais la rose l'attire bientôt, et il revienl à Lyon, chez le Père J.-B. Guillot apprendre la culture du rosier. Il voyage ensuite et va travailler à Paris chez Lévêque el Jamain ; il revient à Lyon, où il se met à son compte. Rosiériste réputé el connaisseur, il était installé depuis 1855, 64, route de Vaux.
