According to her obituary, Nancy Lois Sears Hintlian (Nov. 21, 1931) passed away March 7, 2013 in Silverdale, Washington. She received her undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Cincinnati in 1951, and worked as a nuclear research chemist before her graduate studies at the University of Arizona, Tuscon. She married, had children and lived in California and Hawaii before retiring to Washington. She felt that she had lived several lives: as a scientist, as an artist (in oils and in stained glass) and as a writer, before becoming a medical doctor. It as after moving to Washington she began growing and breeding roses. She was a member of The Heritage Rose Society as well as the Rose Hybridizers Association.
