There is a lengthy article on the rose scene in Dresden 1858-1888, by Paul Ruschpler (the younger), in the Rosen-Zeitung of 1926, p. 31ff, which is more of a tidal-wave of German than my slender powers in that language dares to undertake, but of which a glance-through seems to indicate promise of much useful information on earlier Ruschplers and other rosomane Dresdenites. Could someone more at ease with the nuances of German provide a translation, or a summary of useful facts from it? (Or perhaps there is already a translation of it available somewhere?)
We are also favored in it with a photo of a gentleman who is likely Paul Ruschpler the elder (the elder Paul, born 1832, was a son of F.W. Ruschpler). This article is followed by two more of similar interest, one by Krüger, which also promise well.
The article is mostly about the methods Ruschpler introduced to produce understock. A translated extract is added to the Breeder listing of Paul Ruschpler.
