Mariano Rubén Saviello (40 years old, 2023) has a master degree in Biotechnology with an orientation in Molecular Genetics, graduated from the National University of Quilmes (UNQ) with a postgraduate degree in "Development of New Drugs for the Treatment of Cancer and Neurodegenerative Diseases" awarded by the Max Planck Institute of the Göttinghen University (Germany). He currently develops his professional career in national and multinational pharmaceutical laboratories within the area of quality control.

As the fourth generation of a family of rose growers and gardeners, he took his first steps in the world of roses at the age of six with the unvaluable contribution of his grandfather -Nilo Sánchez- who was specialized in the cultivation, study and conservation of early Hybrid Tea (eHTs) in “La Casa de las Rosas” (“The House of Roses”) located in Necochea (Buenos Aires, Argentina), to whom Mariano dedicated the discovery of 'Don Nilo' (HT), a sport of 'Kronenbourg', registered in 2000.

Lecturer in Argentina and LATAM, active member of several recognized associations related to Roses (Rosiculture) and Geophytes (Bulbiculture), he si also the author of numerous articles of scientific interest in botanical journals and magazines from Argentina, South America, Europe and the United States.

Mariano R. Saviello is the Director of the Sub-Commission of “Conferences and Cultural Activities” for the Argentine Rose Association (AAR) and participates with great enthiusiasm in other societies and associations abroad. As well as this, he is member of the Argentine Heritage Commission (WFRS) for the search, identification and conservation of heritage roses, identifying and georeferencing more tan 100 plants; and the curator of the national collection of old garden catalogues (rose and other garden plants) listing + 150 documents.

In addition, Mariano R. Saviello is a member of the "International Bulb Society" (IBS) and the "Pacific Bulb Society" (PBS), where he participates as a specialist advisor on the Amaryllidacea family; societies that recognized his contributions by naming with his name a species of "Amaryllis" (Hippeastrum) new to Science, recently discovered in Bolivia by Prof. Raúl Lara Rico: Hippeastrum mariani-savielloi (sp. nova, Amaryllidaceae).
