When wind has blown
all thoughts
from mind
and the morning sun
is rising
I simply enjoy
the fragrance of rose
in the silence
of my being

A moment of perfection

Until slowly
but inevitable

my brain starts
a new day of planning

Today the sun rose early morn, in orange coloured light
With gloves on hand, I prepared myself for a stinging nettle fight
New roses, fresh with pearls of dawn, stood bare in soil of clay
And I sat down on my old bench, in wait of a beautiful day

The birds were singing songs of love, while feeding their offspring
Wood pigeons hopped from branch to branch, doing their own thing
Little wrens, blackbirds and larks were seeking food as well
In this, my favorite time of day, I simply enjoyed my roses' smell

Golden wings in full of bloom, Great Maiden's blush will follow soon
Guirlande d'Amour is spreading love, romantically in full of moon
Felicité et Perpétué is climbing my old apple tree
In just another day or so, she'll let her bloom amazing me

Don't know exactly how many roses are growing in my garden today
They come and go as each one pleases, seeking their own way
Some like the shadow, some like the sun, I love their fragrance sweet
I am a rose nut so to speak and my garden is far from neat

It's still raining a lot and wind is blowing hard. It's a mess in the garden, rose branches falling over and some of the roses are rotting away. But this is typical Dutch weather.
I'm going to a country fair today, despite the weather, in Beervelde, Belgium, very beautiful.
Here's the link http://www.parkvanbeervelde.be/ it's in English too.
It's been held twice each year, second weekend in May and second weekend in October.
And then I'll end up with more plants/roses than I have room for, I'm sure.

It's midnight and of course I came home with more roses. Beautiful smelling old ones and funny thing was that I discovered the name of a rose that I had occulated few years ago from an, at least, 90 year old bush. It's called Katharina Zeimet. It really made my day.
Tomorrow I'm going again with a friend. I'll take some pictures to show here.

Introduction:

May 11 and there's a storm going on outside. Nature is a bit upside down. We've had a period of too high temps for the time of year, which caused plants and roses to bloom too early and now they're washed away by storm.

My garden is about 1300 square meters, rather big to be managed by one person (me). My hubby isn't a gardener and he's always in battle with the roses while mowing the lawn.
I don't have a neat and tidy garden, it's rather wild and every year I have a war on with all kinds of weed and sometimes I win, sometimes I loose.
The soil is very heavy clay, not easy to work in, especially after a dry period, when the clay becomes hard like a rock.
