While I have been a gardener most of my life, I've been growing roses (mostly Old Garden Roses) for eleven years. As a rose historian, I have written and published more than 200 articles, mostly on the backgrounds or history of particular roses and breeders (see Rosa Mundi, Heritage Roses New Zealand, ROSE LETTER of the Heritage Rose Group, American Rose, Pacific Horticulture, Historic Rose Journal, By Any Other Name, The Marin Rose, etc). I am a board member of Heritage Roses Group, editor of its quarterly, and former president of the North Bay Rose Society, a certified master gardener and a recently retired professor. I am now on the Board of the Friends of Vintage Roses. My book RAINBOW: A HISTORY OF THE ROSE IN CALIFORNIA is available on Createspace (preferable choice) and Amazon (very minimal royalties).
