This one is slowly winning me over. Give it afternoon shade, plenty of water, along with a nice spring mulching and it eventually responds with some real beauties. Stems are rather short and fragrance is lacking. But Silver Star seems like a pretty good garden rose among the lilac and lavender tones. Blooms last well.

Lowell Thomas has been making appearances on the Home Depot/Lowe's circuit for the last few years. Lowe's is where we picked up a replacement Mr.Thomas mere days after our old champ finally gave out.
It's a neat upright growing five foot tall bush that doesn't spread much or clump together. (Very easy to prune.) It's a reliable fairly disease-free giver of clear medium yellow blossoms that hold their color in the sun and smell nice. It does take a bit longer than some to recycle. As well as being pretty light on thorns. The fragrance is among the best and most unique for yellow roses. Mostly clove but with a hint of cinnamon as well.
Three-quarters of a century after it's release it is still one of the better yellow roses around and worth seeking out.

We have this one in a spot where it gets a fair bit of shade, so it can be a bit lanky. No matter, it always puts up huge clear white blooms that smell great. Our JFK tends to flower virtually all at once. Disease does not seem to hamper it (we don't spray.) It grows and leaves up through everything. The greenish buds are also a nice touch.

One of the great floribundas of all-time. A lusty grower and disease free, it provides ample amounts of light to medium apricot blooms kissed with just a bit of yellow at the heart. Smells quite good, and holds up in 100 degree temps as well.
