This rose is doing horribly in my So. CA garden--rust, black spots, plus the buds do not always open up fully. The scent is minimal, color almost a washed-out yellow. I would not buy this again for my area.

I live in Diamond Bar CA and my bush goes "Gang Busters". Have no problems with deseases of any kind. One of my favorate roses. Love the pastel yellow and the spiral tea form. Bush is 3 years old. One of the first to bloom in the spring and is still blooming when i cut back in January.

I got this rose last year and yanked it out finally the other day. It was a very poor performer, diseased, few blooms, etc. I tried everthing before I gave up, and I don't give up easily. I have plenty of other roses, so I've learned not to keep any bad ones for more than 3 years max. I live in southern CA, coastal.

Many times when a rose doesn't do well it may not be where you grow it but the bush itself. Sometimes when you replace the bush with another of the same name, you get a totally different result. Don't give up if you really like the rose.

I also had the washed out yellow, almost white, in my Alabama sun. I also had thrips on this roses. Seems in hot summers all the light colored roses get thrips and fade.

Try MIDAS TOUCH. This grows quite well in the Coastal areas here in NorCAL. It has long stems and a pungent scent! kHAAS of Silicon Valley

I got mine at Home Depot on clearance recently for $1.00, bare-root. I put it in my open-air compost pile to regain its health and it is looking pretty good right now. If you have a Home Depot in your area, now is the time to get bargain prices on bare-roots, but pick out the healthiest ones. They all revive though; I find it almost impossible to kill roses, they're really strong plants that will survive all kinds of conditions.

I inherited a sad version of this beautiful rose....any tips on bringing it back to life? I have planted it according to instructions, added composted manure, and Miracle Grow for Roses as its first watering. It gets about 1/2 - 3/4 day of sunlight, and is well protected from the wind. It has one gangly, strong branch with several leafing twigs, and a smaller branch without leaves. How often should I water? should I prune both branches and hope for next year? This is my first rose, so any help would be great.

Jenny, if this is your first rose you need to find lots of helpful info about their care, fertilizing needs and times, and watering, etc. I found the America Rose Society's web site to be great(also known as the ARS). On the site, there are links to rosarians in your area to whom you can ask questions. And believe it or not, they so answer usually within a couple of days. Do not be discouraged, I was afraid at first of roses, but the more I read, the better I became. I now have over 20 varieties and this is only my third year! What you will find is that they are one of the hardiest plants you can grow, despite their delicate appearance. You can prune them, take off all their leaves, move them around--they'll spring back! Just remember their growing season begins in the Spring, so maybe you just need to give your Arizona time. All roses look terrible in January--that's the time they are dormant and usually need pruning to invigorate them. Good luck!
