thank you Donald; we have had this rose and clematis (jackmanii) together now for 4 yrs. and the rose now has reached 14 ft in height, it is so vigerous that it is smothering the clematis. I think i may have to plant a couple of new clematis at the outside perimeter of this rose next year.
