Celeste, I am loving the photos your rescued roses! You are quite a find yourself!

What is the fragrance of this rose like, and how strong?

How tall is it, and how large are the blooms? How vigorous and healthy has it been for you?

And do the blossoms dangle in that delightful way of some climbing roses?

Thanks, Gala

This rose has a very unusual fragrance which I find hard to describe. It does not have a tea or old rose (damask) scent, nor does it smell like myrhh or fruity..... but rather it smells
to my nose like a mix of expensive perfume and baby powder, not at all overpowering, very subtle and delicate. It is hard to describe, but it
doesn't smell like any other rose I have. It is not a strong fragrance and you have to sniff each rose individually to catch the
delicate fragrance. Here is zone 4, it will grow to the top of my metal arbor each summer, to a height of about 7 feet, but does
suffer some dieback each winter since I don't protect it. The leaves are extremely glossy and disease-free and are almost as
pretty as the blooms. Sometimes I have blooms like the one in the photo where they hang a bit (because there are so many
petals and they are quite heavy) but most times they do not hang down. I do not even know the real name of this beautiful
climber but I do know that it is my favorite of all my climbers.

Thank you for your interest & happy gardening!

Celeste

Dear Celeste,

Oh, thank-you for the reply that you wrote a week ago, I just found it! It may interest you to know that your message showed up as "by anonymous." and curiously, it didn't come to my messages as I would expect, I just happened to see it while exploring my HMF pages.

Yes, that found pink climber of yours is so beautiful. Maybe if you posted it on the Roses Forum, someone would be able to ID it. The scent sounds delicious. Your description sounds like a description of my moss rose "Alfred de Dalmas" aka Mouselline, which means white linen, if I remember correctly, because it's supposed to smell like clean perfumed linens. It is unique and delicious too. Hope you're well. i really enjoyed the photos of your garden that you posted.

Stay warm, spring is coming!
