Sorry, perhaps the label at Mottisfont was wrong placed.
Comtesse de Lacépède is more a white blooming gallica-china-hybride, only a silvery blush is often reported (varied for example perhaps by climate).
see the authors: F. Joyaux (La rose de France, Enzyclopädie der alten Rosen),

Yes, we agree, the deep pink of several of the photos for this rose in inconsistent with the references we have. Can anyone shed some light on this ?

I have checked a number of sites, C de L is listed variously as a Gallica, Centifolia and Hybrid China, colours ranging from Lavender pink through blush to white.

THe label at Mottesfont, (gardens of the National Collection) states Gallica wih 1840 as the year of origin.

Is it possible that more than one rose carries this name?

Peter Beales Classic Roses shows it as Gallica and lavender pink.

The deep lilac pink picture may be that of
'Comtesse Lacepede' (Br. unk., -1835. Lilac Pink. Refer Old Roses -The Master List 2nd ed. p147.

or
'Le Comte Lacepede' (Vibert, 1830) Gallica. Syn: 'Comtesse Lacepede' Lilac pink to vinous pink. p347.
