We had a tough winter here in Spokane, WA. We have nearly 100 roses, many of which died back to the ground, or very close. Indigo was the only rose which survived untouched. We're looking forward to the blooms.

Update: Spokane is a zone 5b,

Update 6/16/13: We dug it up and moved it last year, in Aug. I think. From a part shade to a full sun spot. Trimmed the canes and everything. This spring it started doing it's thing, hardly missing a beat, and has lots of blooms right now. About the only thing it seems to do during our winters is nap, scoffing at the cold. Then it wakes up and gets back to work.

Hello,

I live in Seattle. Your review of the Indigo rose has definitely helped me in making my decision to purchase this rose.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It really helps novices like me in selection of roses that will thrive in our 8a climate zone.

Best regards,
Reem

Thank you for your review. I purchased this (z5a) for spring 2020 because of your glowing report!

Just got one of this this year, but our dog promptly dug it up. Fortunately there were still some roots attached, so we potted it and it recovered. It's now back in the ground with a barrier. :)

I'll update this if the rose makes it in our zone 5 area.

I am growing it successfully in zone 5 in the Fingerlakes region of central NY state. Have not had any winter die back. Will post some pics this coming season.

Have one up against the wall of our house. Just going into its second summer and it bloomed very nicely. Canes are a good 8' and there was no die-back in our zone 5 area (Spokane, WA)

Very nice fragrance. HMF says "mild," I'd class it as strong, but maybe that's just ours.

Update 5/14/11: It survived this last, tough, winter very nicely. I do need to add that it is placed on the west side of the house, close to the house. I expect that there was enough residual heat to protect it. Still... a Rainbow's End Climber, right next to it, died back to the ground. We're really looking forward to that wonderful Souvenir fragrance.

I agree it's a very nice and strong fragrance; a bit like Sharifa Asma!

Coffee Bean is a very nice little rose. Profuse blooms all season long and they last fairly well. We have three and they survived our zone 5 (Spokane, WA) winter and only needed some trimming in the spring.
