I planted this rose this spring, the plant grew to about 5' tall but never bloomed. I did not get one rose. Will this change next spring or am I doing something wrong? There is some powdery mildew on it , i've been spraying it once a week with a fungicide. I fertilized with miracle grow only once. Thank you. Angela Vulpis

My guess would be that sometimes plants take the first season to establish themselves. My friend has talked about a few roses that he has had that did not do much the first year. Over fert. can also do this (excess nitrogen). Lastly check for virus. Infections can block reproduction. Hope that helps. Give it another year and see what happens

I have one in an old wine cask (planted in 02) that I fertilize with Miracle Grow once a month. It is beautiful with no fewer that 3 dozen full 4" blossoms. Interestingly, I didn't get any flowers the first year either. Good luck.

fertilize more! once every other week with almost any other fertilizer other than miracle grow and you will see a dramatic difference. Fish and seaweed fertilizers combined with epsom salts, alfalfa and blood meal plus a water soluable.
