Another really beautiful trait is the greyed out undersides of the leaves. I wish I had a better quality picture. This rose appears to be unable to set hips. I have observed a couple "to be" hips in the past, a very few do get a little plump with time but when dissected there's nothing viable inside. The vast majority of the time though the receptacles simply blacken and shrivel from the pedicel up, often staying attached to the plant for a noticeable while.

i believe a rose I got in 2015 to be San Remo. The Eskelund roses get distributed here in Mexico via home depot, i have not seen San Remo there, but the stock has made its way to the illegal producers. it was at a distributor of those that i found it. very lovely. it died a few months later and i have not been able to find it again.

This is what the prickles/thorns should look like. Very rarely produced, virtually thornless. I could only find 3 in this entire very big plant.

'Brown Sugar', which is more commonly sold as a bouquet rose is a surprisingly great garden plant. Glossy, dark foliage, stout canes. Wonderful bloom colour. Unmatched, really. Unlike a lot of other russets that will come up a gnarly fluorescent orange with unfavorable weather, Brown Sugar is much more consistently smokey, deep, and rusty. Fair health. Good vigor. Blooms are not fussy and don't come up all gnarly and distorted like many other florist varieties would outside of a carefully controlled greenhouse. Should absolutely be popularized in gardens.

the stems were too thin to hold the relatively large blooms on this plant. they had an airy rythm to them. few thorns.
