Southern California, April 2019. Picture of typical older (~3 years) cane with thorns. New growth is relatively free from large thorns but bears many fine prickles. As the canes age, they develop larger thorns as seen here. Cane diameter is relatively small still - about the size of a pencil. Relatively flexible, lax and trainable growth.

Southern California, April 2019. New growth. Foliage has bronze, verging on red, periphery at first, then fades to mid-dark green, matte, relatively large leaf size.

Southern California, April 2019. Foliage and buds. Larger, matte leaves belong to Erinnerung an Brod and the smaller, glossier leaves belong to Darlow's Enigma. In early April, Erinnerung an Brod has several flower buds but Darlow's Enigma has yet to show even one.
