I looked up the entry for 'Mrs. Aaron Ward' and am taken to the page for 'Cl. Mrs. Aaron Ward,' which is a sport of 'Mrs. Aaron Ward.' The search feature does not take you to the entry for 'Mrs. Aaron Ward' (not the climber). However, when I did a Google search on Rosa 'Mrs. Aaron Ward,' I did find that HMF has a page for this rose (http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.4296). However, you cannot find this page on a search at HMF, so something's out of whack with the search for this rose. Just thought I'd call it to your attention.

Mrs Aaron Ward works, for both bush and climber. Looks like the search engine doesn't like full stops.

The same thing still happens with my Dr Grill from Honeysuckle, except I have to put a full stop after Dr to find it.

Thank you! Who knew search features could be fussy about punctuation?!

I had this problem with adding references the other day; I can't remember which rose, but I do think it was a Mrs Something-or-Other, and I ended up at the record for the climbing version. I don't usually use full-stops when searching, but won't swear that I didn't this time. A key word search with the last name turned up both forms.

Possessives can be tricky to search for, too. If you search for Vick's Caprice, for instance, typing in "Vick's" won't get you there. Typing in the full name or 'Vick' without the apostrophe or 'Caprice' will work...

I just ran into the same search problem with 'Mrs. Charles J. Bell.' When I searched this name, i was taken to the climbing version. Google found the page for the rose - not the climber (http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.4305&tab=1) - but you cannot access it with a search on the name at HMF.

It works if you drop the full stops. Odd?

Yes, quite odd - I've never experienced this before, but I'll be on the lookout at HMF if I can't find a particular rose in the future! Thanks.

The entry for 'Henry Fonda' says parents are 'Baron Girod de l'Ain' x 'Sunbright,' although there's then a note underneath that says "The seed parent of 'Baron Girod de l'Ain' is doubtful. Refer Patent and comments."

I'm a volunteer at the Huntington Library's Rose Garden, so I asked Tom Carruth about this (because he knows I love 'Baron Girod de l'Ain'). He says he was Jack Christensen's assistant at the time this rose was developed and that Jack never used 'Baron Girod de l'Ain' as a parent. As the patent says, the parentage is seedling x seedling. Feel free to verify this with Tom at tcarruth@huntington.org

Anyway, I thought you might like to know so that you can correct the entry for 'Henry Fonda'

The entry for 'Ruby Voodoo' contains the note, "If you know the parentage of this rose, or other details, please contact us." The hybridizer, John Starnes, just posted on Facebook that he'd gotten his 2017 royalty check for 'Ruby Voodoo' and he expressly said its parentage is (General Jacqueminot X Stephen's Big Purple), which is what helpmefind's entry says. If there's anything else you'd like to know about the rose, I'm sure he'd be happy to answer. If you are not on Facebook, I would be happy to relay any questions to him for you and let you know what he says.
