I see so many BD's that bloom so amazingly well. I had mine as a band (own root) and even in its third year to forth is still much less vigorous and stingy in bloom than anyone else's I've seen. I have it in a pot and I am not sure what to do to it to make it more prolific. Maybe it was a runt or something. I still keep it around because I love the classic-looking bloom but it's just not doing it for me in terms of overall performance.

This rose had very poor black spot resistance without spray in my garden near Washington, DC. To its credit, it seemed content to photosynthesize with green stems alone, and persisted for several years that way until I couldn't stand to look at it anymore.

Same experience in Atlanta. It will be shovel pruned soon. Why the fuss over it, I have no idea.

I've had it for a few years as a much touted perfect rose (disease-resistant, prolific). None of that was true for me. Very disappointing. Loses leaves to BS, little bloom, shatters very fast. I want to replace it with South Africa,. If anyone else knows better, I would appreciate any recommendations.

My first year with this Rose, the roses bloomed and lasted 24 hours and then shattered immediately. So I had a discussion with Bob Martin about it and he said give it another year. So here I am in here too and oh my God he was completely right!! The blooms lasted about four days on the bush and I put them in a vase which they’ve been in there for a couple of days, what an amazing Rose. Now I have to agree with other people about not getting a lot of fragrance from it no matter what time of day but I don’t care because it is a beauty!

Did it get better in terms of shattering?
