David Austin Roses introduced two new roses, the first of those is: The Country Parson (Ausclergy) - an English Rose bred by David Austin that has yellow flowers. It grows to about 3.5' by 3.5' and features both in the catalogue and on their website.

I have received a notice to say that David Austin Snr. Has died. The notice just says “last night” and I am not too sure at this stage whether that was December 17 or 18. He was a breeder who knew that people were searching for fragrant, old fashioned loveliness and I am glad to have some of his roses in my garden.

I feel quite saddened today, as if it's the end of an era... the era of Beales, Thomas and Austin... but their legacies will last a very long time...
