Virginia Dare, ('Cledare'), MinFl, w, Clements, John K .... no description
Website/Catalog Page(s) 62. The birth of Virginia Dare on August 18, 1587 made her the first child born in America of English parents. Virginia was born only days after the colonists' arrival on Roanoke Island, North Carolina. We were asked to name a rose to honor her and selected this small gem, a bed of which is to be planted in the Elizabethan Gardens on Roanoke Island. Bred from 'Ballerina', 'Virginia Dare' blooms are similar clusters of small, crystal white, single flowers blending to cherry red toward the outer edge of the petals. The blooms are produced constantly and in profusion on a compact bush with rich green, in-scale, foliage. 2 ft. in pots. 3 ft. as a shrub. (1998)
