Origin:

Bred by Rob Somerfield (New Zealand, 1996).
Introduced in New Zealand by Glenavon Roses Ltd. in 1996 as 'Blackberry Nip'.
Introduced in Australia by Roses and Friends Archive of closed nursery in 2008.

Class:

Hybrid Tea.

Bloom:

Mauve or purple blend. Deep purple. Magenta purple. Strong fragrance. 41 to 67 petals. Average diameter 4.25". Medium, very full (41+ petals), borne mostly solitary, quartered bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Habit:

Medium, armed with thorns / prickles, bushy, upright. Medium, semi-glossy, medium green foliage.

Height: 31" to 4'11" (80 to 150cm). Width: 39" (100cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 6b and warmer. Can be used for garden. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant, susceptible to Mildew. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
