Origin:
Bred by Herbert C. Swim (United States, before 1947).
Introduced in United States by Armstrong Nursery in 1949 as 'Applause'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Deep pink.  Mild, spice fragrance.  up to 50 petals.  Average diameter 4.25".  Large, very full (41+ petals), high-centered bloom form.  Continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.  Long, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, bushy, upright, well-branched.  Large, dark green, leathery foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 7b and warmer.  Can be used for cut flower or garden.  Vigorous.  flowers drop off cleanly.  heat tolerant.  Disease susceptibility: very mildew resistant.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .
