Medium red Hybrid Tea.
Registration name: Templar
Bred by Alexander W. Montgomery Jr. (United States, before 1924).
Introduced in France by Grandes Roseraies du Val de la Loire in 1924 as 'Templar'.
Introduced in United States by A.N. Pierson, Inc. in 1924 as 'Templar'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1925 as 'Templar'.
Hybrid Tea.  
Carmine-red, darker center, ages to purple .  Moderate fragrance.  Medium, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Dense, thornless (or almost), upright.  Dark green, leathery foliage.  
USDA zone 7b and warmer.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .
