is there a way to loop the photos so that instead of seeing thumbnail size photos and having to click on each photo, you could instead click on "photos" and then see one image after the next? If not, I suggest that the next time you are tinkering with the website you might consider this. As each photo is displayed, you could have an option that says "next photo" and we'd be able to view them one after the other.

There are cost and technical issues involved. I'll use an analogy to illustrate.

Suppose you were shopping for a car and you visited a dealership with 500 cars on their back lot. It's unlikely they would be amiable to driving each car one by one out front for you to inspect. It would make much more sense for them to pull out a book with a snapshot and a little bit of information on each. You could then point out the ones you were interested in and skip those of no interest.

The analogy is not as abstract as you may think. There is a cost for every page HMF downloads to you as well as the additional burden of our host computer to prepare that page. As HelpMeFind is a user community funded website we are restricted by a rather tight budget and we must minimize costs where ever possible.

Serving you a web page with a photo you have no interest in is a waste of resources and a situation we would like to avoid as much as possible. Given the volume and variety of photos we have, we would rather have you choose the ones you're interested in and given our approach amounts to a single extra click we feel the trade off is worth it.

We do have plans to modernize the photo display to have photos "pop up" over the displayed page. We plan to implement that feature as time and funding permits.

Thank you for your suggestion. It's important HMF's site guests let us know what they like and dislike about our website.

I appreciate your taking the time to respond. However, a simple "it is costly for us to display each photo and therefore the cost is prohibitive at this time. We are working on a alternative solution to further enhance your viewing experience" would have sufficed.

Often when we answer a question here it is for the benefit of all our site guests. This request is a popular one that comes up from time to time and I thought it was worth the time and effort to explain in a bit more detail this time.

I apologize if it appears condescending as that was certainly not my intention but having reread it I can see where it could be interpreted as such.

Thanks so much for the analogy and detailed response to the request for an update on the functions of the photos tab. I've wished for a way to flip through the photos quickly one after another myself but know there's a lot more involved behind the scenes to make this happen, as the HMF Admin response verified. I'm glad the question was posed, and the response shed some light on the complexity of bringing about something as "simple" (!) as this. Thanks!

You are welcome. I'm glad to see the extra time spent is helping others understand our position.

Per site www.everyrose.com, it is also known as TANrowsia, Willy Millowitsch Rose. And per Rosa, Rosae, l’encyclopédie des Roses, spelling of the synonym is Willy Millowitch Rose.
