Origin:
Bred by Jean Laffay (France, 1839).
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Violet-red.  Purplish pink.  Strong fragrance.  Average diameter 3.75".  Large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped bloom form.  Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.  Glandular sepals buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, upright.  Dark green foliage.  5 to 7 leaflets.  

Height: up to 39" (up to 100cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.
