‘Captain Christy’ = Hybride de Thé... Riche de pétales, grande corolle rose pâle… en coupe, puis presque à plat, révélant un centre en charmant désordre. Son rose timide s’avive dans les profondeurs de son cœur, et la chaleur lui anime le teint… parfum présent, mais timide… feuillage solide dont les folioles pointues évoquent un peu le mahonia… Lacharme, France, 1873. 2 Photos = fleur et feuilles.

Captain Christy Description... One of the earliest Large-flowered Roses still in cultivation... The large blooms are light rose pink... rain may cause them to ball... For an historical garden this would be a good example of a successful early Large-flowered Rose... The raiser named it to honor a Londoner who was a keen amateur rosarian...
