I recently planted a rose bush, that looked great for a few days, but, now it's leaves are all brown at the bottom like it's dying. I have watered it every eve. to let it get established. Have I watered too much? It gets plenty of sun. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks

The simplest way to know whether the plant is well-watered is with your fingers. Dig a small hole with a trowel about 4 inches away from the root ball. Go down into the soil at least 6 inches. Is it wet? Is it dry? It takes a little practice to water thoroughly but not excessively. It's usually hard for an experienced gardener to drown a rose. The next question is whether you have damaged the leaves with fertilizer. It is quite easy to over-fertilize a rose. Many of us have made the mistake of fertilizing a plant that isn't thriving. Don't do it! Fertilizer is far from a cure-all and can cause serious, sometimes fatal, damage to a stressed plant.

If none of this helps, let us know your general location (state, country), how you received the plant (size of pot), and, if possible, a photo of the plant.
