Yes, some features are not active until your membership is confirmed. You'll find a button on your member page to resend the confirmation email. Please double check your email first as this problem is almost always because of an error in one's email address.
Also, did you answer the question on the first page about the position of the letter. That question is there to prevent computer automated sign ups.
