Rose Listing Omission

Rosalba

Catalogo Fratelli ingegnoli 1935 page 71
Rosai creazione Ingegnoli a cespuglio. Rosalba (Ibrido di Thea). Novità 1935. Nostra varietà inedita di vegetazione vigorosa a fiori poratati da lunghi steli pieni di colore rosa carneo con riflessi giallo cadmio. Magnifica per gruppi e per recidere.

PS A description of this rose (Catalogo Fratelli Ingegnoli 1943) is thus wrongly listed in the references of Rosalba by Borgatti. The colour of the two roses differs very much.

I am not so sure they are two different roses Bruna. We have
1934 ‘Rosalba’ Borgatti - lilac pink with salmon pink center
1935 ‘Rosalba’ Ingegnoli. - fleshy pink with cadmium yellow reflections

What do you think? I do see the “creation of Ingegnoli” but is it possible he was distributing Borgatti’s Rose?

The idea that they were two different roses is related to the colours that, to me, "looked" rather different but colour is not my "field". If I exclude the "colour problem" I agree that Ingegnoli might have commercialized Borgatti's roses. This hypothesis is supported also by the fact that in the 1943 Ingegnoli catalogue is listed also Libia, a Borgatti rose. On the other hand Borgatti in 1933 had a his own catalogue where, however, no roses of his was listed ... The hypothesis of a collaboartion of Borgatti with Ingegnoli would explain also another intersting datum. In my long conversation with Lodi's relatives they told me that he was awarded a price by the Munucipality of Bologna for having bred the darkest rose ever bred. This rose was not repeting and for this reason Bonfiglioli & son did not commercialized it. At that time thus Borgatti was taking care of Lodi's roses (he sent them to Sangerhausen). Interestingly in Ingegnoli's catalogue is listed a Fiamma nera that is stated as the darkest rose ever bred ... Is it the Lodi's rose handed to Ingegnoli by Borgatti?
To conclude: if you think that the colours of the two Rosalba are equivalent .. other data fit for their being the same rose!!
Thank you for pointing it.

Thanks Bruna. We will lose all this good information in Website Omissions, and so I have added an addendum to the 1943 reference for Borgatti’s ‘Rosealba’.
