Paeonia officinalis staminea Jacques ist eine ähnliche Varietät, welche der Samen der P. officinalis lieferte, der im Jahre 1837 ausgefået wurde. Die Blume besteht aus 8-9 großen kaum gezähnelten Blättern von einem schönen ins Violette fallenden Kirschroth. Die zahlreichen Staubfäden sind eben so gefärbt, und tragen große glatte, unfruchtbare Antheren, zur Hälfte in verschie deutlich gedrehte und wellenförmige Blumenblätter umgebildet von derselben rothen Farbe wie die Staubfäden, aber schön gelb eingefaßt, und halb so lang wie die äußern Blumenblätter. Dies ist der zweite Schritt zur Füllung der Blume. Diese und die vorige Varietät sind in den Annal. de Flore et de Pom. 1842. S. 316 beschrieben und legtere ist daselbst auch abgebildet.

Translation:
Paeonia officinalis staminea Jacques is a similar variety [to paradoxa macranthera], which yielded the seed of P. officinalis planted in 1837. The flower consists of 8-9 large, barely toothed leaves of a beautiful cherry red color. The numerous stamens are colored in the same way, and bear large, smooth, sterile anthers, half of which are formed into various clearly twisted and wavy petals of the same red color as the stamens, but beautifully edged in yellow, and half as long as the outer petals. This is the second step to filling the flower. This and the previous variety are in the Annal. de Flore et de Pom. 1842. p. 316 and is also illustrated there.
