Marilyn Monroe, photo taken June 2025. She is about three years old, grown own root. Generally quite healthy. Very long, thick canes. Can be a bit stingy on blooms—but the blooms certainly are big and beautiful when she does bloom! Temps are very cool here so far, so this bud/early bloom is much darker gold than usual.

Photo from early May 2025. Sparkle and shine is a superstar in my yard! Own root plant was planted as a band about three years ago. Grows in dry, unamended soil in part shade under trees. Still pushes out tons of beautiful, bright blooms! I have two—the other grows in better conditions. It’s a great rose so I may relocate this one to a more favorable spot, even though it is doing so well in bad circumstances.

Large rose in center/back is Francis Meilland (foreground is an unhappy, small own root Savannah that will get moved). Francis is budded on Dr. Huey and has lived there about 5 years. Has good repeat in flushes. Very long, strong canes and cutting stems! Generally pretty healthy, less a few leaves that will be removed.
