I find Mrs. William G. Koning to be quite shade tolerant here in Southern California. The shade really helps to bring out, and retain, the pink.

Yes, in hot weather it's usually white or near white in cooler weather. In fall the darker pink edge shows clearly, but will fade to light pink before fading to white.
May 3, 2012 There are a few blooms that are a strong cerise-pink this year, they look like the ones by Mel Hulse and CybeRose.

Says near white and it usually is. However, in some climates it can quite pink. See my photo.
