Origin:

Bred by Kikuo Teranishi (Japan, 1981).
Introduced in Japan by Itami Rose Nursery in 1985 as 'Madame Violet'.

Class:

Hybrid Tea.

Bloom:

Mauve or purple blend. Mild fragrance. Average diameter 4". Large, double (17-25 petals), high-centered bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Habit:

Few or no prickles/thorns.

Height: 5'7" to 6'7" (170 to 200cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 7b and warmer. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that. Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .

Abstract: A vigorous rose plant of the hybrid tea class obtained as a seedling from a seed parent entitled "Lady X" and a pollen parent entitled "Sterling Silver" provide abundant long-lasting delicate violet blooms which maintain their true color from bud through leaf drop, on a continuous basis when grown in a greenhouse.
