This rose proved to be a struggle to grow. It was a demanding little plant that had a hard time growing. It also did not produce many blooms, and more than once put out oddly colored blooms (some being half pink and half yellow, others being pink with large splashes of yellow vs. the blended color it is). However, I understand the color variation is fairly common with roses that are Sports. On the flip side, IF we managed to get the plant to bloom...AND the weather was right...AND the bloom wasn't an odd color...the results were fairly stunning. From my experience, I would skip Chicago Peace and grow a more vigorous, newer variety of similar color.

I agree... Had the same experience over here with the plant. The few flowers it presented varied too, but not that much. It is already replaced by a better performing rose.

This rose is as difficult to grow for me as Peace itselves: Both are not happy and getting smaller every year.
Just one flower. Maybe I became duds, but maybe they're on the wrong rootstock...
Or it is as is written in a thread of 35 entrances started: Initial post 28 JUN 09 by John Moody and ended the 19th of may this year at the rose Peace.

rather more pink than i would have liked, i got this rose because it seemed like a more intensely colored version of peace. (i thought it would have more of the orange and deep yellow that i have seen in pictures.) but it is a medium pink, not too dark, so i don't get the itch to toss it out.

also, the FRAGRANCE alone more than makes up for the pinky color (i typically avoid pink roses. personal preference.) it is a perfumed, fruity sort of scent and it's wonderful. i'm not sure why some claim that CP smells just like peace. it doesn't. peace does not have the fruity notes and is more musky. (love them both, but they are definitely different.) i can't smell most roses, so scent is a big win with me.

the last bloom stayed lovely on the bush for at least a week. amazing!!

my CP rose is in its second season. It is a beautiful rose. The blooms are huge 5'' across. The coloring on mine is a little strange. As you will see from my pics. My rose is pink blend, but it also has a few petals that are yellow on half side and stripped on the other side. It has never done this before, it was fascinating to see. No bs on this plant, very aggressive grower. My favorite!!
